Very effective. This cleans really well without leaving a film or residue that some of the mainstream detergents leave. I don't need to use a lot and like that it is a non-toxic more sustainable formula.

This product is the BEST! When my son was born, I made the decision to only use nontoxic cleaners in our home, especially on items we eat off of and wear. I use Seventh Generation EVERYTHING. This product even cleans the dishes better than any other cleaner I’ve used. My silverware even comes out spot free. People need to read what they are washing their dishes with. Literally, most products are toxic. This product is plant based, and so nontoxic, that if it is ingested, all you have to do is drink water(not call poison control and rush to an ER).

The smell from the bottle is a little weird, but it smells great in the dishwasher and gets the dishes really clean. The only exception is that you must remove the grease from the dishes prior to putting them in the dishwasher or they don't come really clean.

My daughter has issues with eczema. For years, I didn't use a dishwasher. Then when I tried to use one again, she immediately experienced a flair up. I researched this issue and, yes, there is a connection. So I tested different products and this one - Seventh Generation Dishwasher Detergent Gel (FREE & CLEAR) was the only one which did not cause a reaction. But I had a problem. My dishes weren't getting clean. Or a filmy residue was being left behind. I found myself re-rinsing my dishes by hand as I pulled them out of the dishwasher. Then one day I taught my daughter how to use the dishwasher. She accidentally dumped far too much gel into the place you pour the dishwasher detergent, easily 3x the amount I usually used. (I had specifically been told to use only 1 teaspoon by an appliance repair guy.) Well, hurray for my daughter! The dishes came out perfectly, and I've been overfilling that little compartment ever since. Works great!

I love this dishwasher gel. There are times that glasses come out foggy, but then I know I've used too much. You really don't need a lot - we have an apartment sized dishwasher and use about a tablespoon, if that. I love knowing that even if there were streaks (there's not!) Seventh Generation isn't loaded with harmful chemicals like other dishwasher gel brands. BONUS: It's available for Subscribe and Save!

I really love this dishwasher detergent. I see it gets a lot of negative reviews saying that it doesn't clean the dishes, but I have found that it exceeds any other dishwasher detergent that I have tried. Yes, some food may get left on if it's really dried on there but I have found that to be the case with other chemical laden detergents as well and it works great with our hard water! We have extremely hard water and it hardly ever leaves a film on anything (which is a miracle). For me, rinsing my dishes prior to putting them in the dishwasher is a small price to pay for no film and less chemicals. The lemon scent is very pleasant too!

I refuse to use any other dishwasher gel. I have tried all eco-friendly brands at this point and was frustrated with how poorly they cleaned. There was always residue that was left over with other gels. Here's why I like this one the most: 1. My dishwasher is old and doesn't clean as well as newer models 2. Seventh Generation Dishwasher has consistently delivered 3. I also use the ECO rinsing aid with the gel for better results Here's the kicker though, EWG.org does not rate the Gel as a stellar green detergent - http://www.ewg.org/guides/cleaners/2629-SeventhGenerationAutomaticDishwashingGelLemon. I have always trusted the Seventh Generation brand and am disappointed about the ratings. However, until something better comes along, I might just stick to this one.

works well for me, and i never pre-rinse, but i'm on city water, people with hard water may want to try a rinse aid. It's not a strong on burned on food or baked on, but I consider that an acceptable trade off for a nontoxic detergent.

Love this stuff! Started using it when our twins were born since I wanted something gentle and frangrance free to use for their bottles. It only takes about a tablespoon to do a load (given, I am *very* diligent about pre-washing so there's not a lot of crusty food stuck to the dishes). Been using it for about 6 months and so far am a happy camper!

My favorite detergent. Leaves my dishes spotless and gives me peace of mind that it is free of toxins. Healthier than other products out there and without the worry harmful chemical residue. I had to purchase in bulk because many stores don't carry this, which is a shame. Buying through Amazon saved me money, though, so I can't complain! Thanks!
